Wellington Mountain Running Champs

This is an inter-club mountain running race organised by Olympic Harriers.

VENUE: Mount Kaukau, Johnsonville. Race headquarters are at the Olympic Harriers Clubrooms, Waiora Hub, Bannister Ave.

COURSE: All races follow the iconic Skyline Track up and beyond Mt Kaukau. Start at the northern end, head south along the ridgeline with spectacular views. Each distance has its own turnaround point, with the long course featuring an extra challenging loop.

This is a pay-to-enter event that everyone can enter, only current Competitive members will be eligible for championship medals.

All races are mass-start in the following age grades and distances.

Vosseler Shield

This is an inter-club cross-country race organised by Wellington Harriers.

VENUE: New venue to be confirmed for 2026.

COURSE: All races start, and finish, on the grassed area (mountain biking area) which is below and to the east of the WHAC clubrooms; the course covers bush tracks and rocky trails with steep uphill / downhill gradients. The entire race is off road with the exception of road crossings on Mt Victoria.

It is for Competitive members only. Entry fees are covered by your annual subscription.

VENUE: Wainuiomata Recreation Area. Enter from Moores Valley Road and turn into Whitcher Grove which leads to Reservoir Road.

Wellington Road Race Walking Championships

This is an inter-club road race organised by Wellington Athletics.

VENUE: Twin Lakes access road at Te Marua, Upper Hutt.

There are Championship, A Grade and non-Championship B Grade races.
The Champioship A grade races are for Competitive members only. Recreational members may enter as a B grade competitor. Entry fees are covered by your annual subscription.

The championship A grade races will be fully judged, and any disqualified walker will be allowed to finish and moved to the B grade event. There is no penalty zone operating.
